Alumni Memory
My student job was in the Athletic Office during the glory years of Baron Basketball from 1955-1957. The office was one room in the Quonset hut of North Campus. The room housed Coach Kuzma, Bob Kloska (publicity), Stanley (equipment), and Sherry Allen and I sharing secretary duties. What an interesting time being “inside” all that goes on with the game—recruiting, scheduling games, scouting reports, etc. One memory I had was when the Barons were being considered for the then prestigious NIT games. It went down to the wire, but we were not given the bid. We were so disappointed.
PS: I not only worked in the Athletic Office, but I was on the sidelines of all Baron home games and some away games as a cheerleader.
Rosemarie (Zagiba ’57) Chonzena, education, also sent the following update: “I graduated from the College of Steubenville in 1957 with a degree in education. from there, I spent 40 years teaching math in junior and senior high schools. Also earned a master’s degree from Purdue university in 1964 under a national grant for teachers of math and science. I retired in 1997 and now live in Vacaville, CA. my son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons live nearby in Santa Rosa, CA.”
